Transportation Policy
Girls on the Run Official Transportation Policy
Girls on the Run Volunteers are NOT to transport any participant, outside of immediate family, in a vehicle when operating in the capacity of a volunteer (coach, council director, etc).
In the instance that transportation of a participant is necessary, Girls on the Run International requires that a signed letter from the parents of the participant(s) is submitted to the Girls on the Run Council Director at least twenty-four (24) hours in advance. The letter should include an acknowledgement that the volunteer is no longer acting on behalf of Girls on the Run, and all liability of the council is waived.
Sample letter:
To Whom It May Concern:
I, ____________, allow ___________ to transport my daughter, ___________, home to and/or from Girls on the Run. I acknowledge that after the close of the Girls on the Run session __________ is no longer acting as a representative of Girls on the Run and solely as a community member. I release Girls on the Run and Girls on the Run International from all liability during this transport.

It seems like the first paragraph contradicts the second one. Could we just leave out the first paragraph?
ReplyDeleteSo the first sentence might read: In the instance that transportation by a GOTR volunteer of a GOTR particpant, other than an immediate family member, is necessary .....
We have a problem then in Union City if we cannot transport. The bus run from the Middle School to the elementary school to tranpsport the 5th graders over was too full. Stacy Guertler, middle school counselor who is helping coach, is transporting 4 of the girls to the Elementary. We have signed slips from the parents but it doesn't have the GOTR waiver so to speak.
ReplyDeleteMaybe this needs to be discussed at one of our meetings. Cheryl
ReplyDeleteI agree with Chris, but hshouldn't it be up to the coach? What if they can't get the slip to the Council Director within 24 hours?
